AHD unleashes #GrumpOfThrones

A week before SXSW, AHD’s creative director Paul (@robogeek) had a crazy idea.

We were preparing to reunite with Grumpy Cat for a new Friskies marketing campaign during SXSW, where it just so happened HBO would also bring their acclaimed Game of Thrones touring exhibition. “We have to get Grumpy Cat on the Iron Throne!”

We approached Grumpy Cat’s owners and then HBO, who all loved the idea, and then hatched a TOP SECRET plan for a clandestine early morning photo and video shoot on Monday, March 10.

By lunchtime, #GRUMPOFTHRONES quickly became the defining image of SXSW 2014, dominating social media that day, and was followed that afternoon with a behind-the-scenes video that exploded on YouTube after an exclusive launch with Mashable- see more memes here. 100′s of Articles followed and Social Media continued to explode over the next 24 hours.
